3D Prints Bridge Cultures: Xi'an Jiaotong University Hosts Colombian Students

Publish: 2026-06-18 View:

Recently, the Xi'an Jiaotong University Silk Road Summer Camp was successfully held, with a delegation of teachers and students from Wilhelm Montessori School in Colombia invited to visit the campus, embarking on a study tour that integrated Silk Road culture, cutting-edge technology, and cross-border exchange.

From June 10 to 13, 2026, a group of secondary school students visited the China Western Science and Technology Innovation Harbor, where they toured the 3D printing laboratory of the High-Performance Additive Manufacturing Team. Accompanied and guided by Ms. Zhu Hui, the visiting delegation gained a systematic understanding of the team's research directions, particularly the technological breakthroughs, application achievements, and frontier developments in the field of additive manufacturing. During the subsequent hands-on sessions, doctoral students Zhang Bowen and Zhang Di, master's students Wang Yunze, Xu Zhengqi, Su Zhengyi, Pan Yuxin, and international student Shad delivered in-depth presentations and live demonstrations on topics including high-performance PEEK materials, mechanical metamaterials, metal powder materials, continuous fiber composite additive manufacturing, as well as electrohydrodynamic bioprinting and flexible bioelectronic printing. Over the three-day exchange, Chinese and international students actively posed questions, engaged in lively discussions, and, under the team's guidance, transformed their creative designs into physical objects. Through hands-on practice, the visiting students experienced firsthand the research strength and innovative vitality of Chinese universities. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious, with teachers and students from both sides helping each other—language differences posing no barrier to the enthusiasm of communication. At the conclusion of the event, our faculty and students presented the Colombian guests with metal 3D-printed Terracotta Warriors and 3D-printed PEEK university badges as souvenirs, demonstrating our university's practical achievements in additive manufacturing while symbolizing the deep friendship and best wishes shared between both sides.

The successful hosting of this international exchange and study activity fully demonstrates the core role of Xi'an Jiaotong University's High-Performance Additive Manufacturing Team in integrating cutting-edge research with science popularization and education. Leveraging their solid research foundation, abundant experimental resources, and thoughtful teaching organization, the team not only gave the international students an intuitive appreciation of the technological appeal and innovative potential of our university's advanced additive manufacturing field but also showcased the professionalism and sense of responsibility of young Jiaotong University scholars to our international guests. In the future, the team will continue to use research as a bridge and education as its mission, promoting more high-level international exchange programs, continuously injecting vitality into sci-tech and cultural exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative, and contributing Jiaotong University's strength to the popularization of advanced manufacturing technologies and the in-depth development of industry-education integration.
