Presentation Introduction:
Abstract
The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is an institution aiming to improve the training of creative and distinguished postgraduates and enhance the development of China’s higher education. Over the past several years, CSC has sponsored many talented Chinese students for overseas study. Mr. Huapan Xiao was sponsored by CSC to perform one-year research in the College of Optical Science, University of Arizona. During his overseas study, he focused on the surface and subsurface damage in ZnSe crystal by diamond turning. In this presentation, he will give a brief introduction of University of Arizona and College of Optical Science. Then, he will give a systematic report about his research work in Arizona. Finally, he will talk about the reflections on one-year study as a CSC visiting student.
Bio Sketch of Mr. Huapan Xiao
Huapan Xiao is a Ph.D. student in Prof. Hairong Wang’s group in the School of mechanical Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. He was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to conduct one-year research as a visiting Ph.D. student during Oct. 2018 to Oct. 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Rongguang Liang in the College of Optical Science, University of Arizona. His research focuses on ultra-precision machining of brittle optical elements.
