Since the Belt and Road Initiative was launched in 2013, it has evolved into an important platform for promoting global scientific and technological advancements, for facilitating international communication, and for strengthening regional cooperation and collective development. In 2015, Xi’an Jiaotong University initiated the University Alliance of the Silk Road on the cooperation platform of the Belt and Road, carrying out diverse cooperation among more than 180 universities from 40 countries and regions around the world. In order to promote academic exchange and mutual development in the field of mechanical engineering, the Advanced Manufacturing Sub-alliance of the University Alliance of the Silk Road was established in October 2016.
Positioned at the on-going convergence of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative, the alliance aims to advance international development in mechanical engineering. Starting from the cultivation of outstanding talents in the new era, the alliance explores new pathways for the international synergy and integration of education, science and technology, and talent, with the goal of providing high-quality education for science and technology talents. The alliance prioritizes the cultivation of high-quality science and engineering talent and focuses on the education and training of outstanding engineers, aiming to create a specialized, international platform for regular and institutionalized academic exchange in engineering science. Additionally, the alliance encourages the mobility of talent in engineering and science and technology, as well as cooperation among industry, academia, and research, to accelerate policy alignment, mechanism integration, and mutual recognition of standards among countries along the Belt and Road, thereby deepening the integration of mechanical disciplines in the construction of countries along the Belt and Road. These efforts aim to deepen the integration of mechanical engineering disciplines across these regions, facilitating cooperation and mutual success.
We are pleased to announce that the first International Conference of Deans/Heads in Mechanical Engineering & Leadership Forum on Engineering Technology will be held in Xi’an, China, November 15–17, 2024. This will not only be a significant event for academic and technological exchange, but also serve as an important platform for promoting international cooperation, jointly addressing challenges, and achieving mutual development.
