【Notification】 Lecture by Researcher Georgios Chatzigeorgiou from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)

Publish: 2025-09-09 View:

Introduction】

With a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, the program covers three core modules:

1. Course on constitutive laws for solid materials. The lectures cover basic concepts from thermodynamics on defining appropriate constitutive laws, examples from classical mechanical responses (including numerical implementation strategies): plasticity, viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity, damage, shape memory alloys (6 hours).

2. Basic concepts of homogenization in composite materials: general principles of micromechanics, mean-field approaches, periodic homogenization (6 hours).

3. Recent advances in multiscale approaches in composites: nonlinear response, interfacial effects, multiphysics conditions, data-driven techniques.

Lecturer Profile】

Senior Researcher Georgios Chatzigeorgiou

George Chatzigeorgiou is a Senior Researcher in National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS) in France and part of the LEM3 laboratory in Metz. He received the MSc degree in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2002 and the PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the same University in 2006. He held postdoctoral positions at Texas A&M University, USA (2008-2010), and at Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen–Nuremberg, Germany (2012-2013), before joining the LEM3 laboratory in Metz, France, in 2013, where he continues to work to this day.

His research interests include micromechanics of composite materials, thermoviscoplastic behavior of polymers, surface elasticity, electro-magneto-elasticity, modeling of shape memory alloys, data-driven modeling techniques. He is co-author of 88 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 42 articles in international conference proceedings, 2 scientific books. He also participated in 13 research projects, he is advisor/co-advisor in 6 Ph.D. theses, co-organized various conferences and mini-symposia and teaches a master course in micromechanics in LEM3 laboratory . He has 3179 citations, and H-Index of 33 (Google Scholars).
