September 11-13, the 14th International Conference on Frontiers of Design and Manufacturing (ICFDM2020) was held in Xi’an, China. The conference was hosted by Xi’an Jiaotong University and co-organized by Northwestern Polytechnical University, and supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Wu Xianming Foundation of the United States and Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.
The theme of this conference is "Foundation·Frontier·Exploration·Innovation", focusing on the frontier of design and manufacturing science, summarizing excellent projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and discussing medium- and long-term development strategies for the future. Affected by the epidemic, the representatives of this conference are mainly domestic experts and scholars.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Academician Xinyu SHAO, Chairman of the ICFDM Conference Management Committee.
Professor Joe McGeough, Chairman of Institution of Mechanical Engineers , gave a report on "Rankine’s Contribution to Design and Manufacturing for Industry and University Engineering Education" with a video.
During the conference, the Science Foundation Salon and Foundation Project Exhibition provided a platform for experts to exchange.
Academicians, experts, etc. visited Innovation Harbour of Western China.
